We know that humour is an excellent stress buster. It brings us closer to people, and can improve our relationships. It also improves our health and immunity.

But, we may not be aware that humour and laughter also improve our problem solving abilities”

Laughter impacts the chemicals in our brain in a way that improves our thinking capacity. It expands the mind and increases the flow of ideas, as well as the interaction between ideas. It allows us to understand connections and patterns which are crucial for critical thinking.

It also creates a sense of lightness, and a problem that seemed unsolvable and overwhelming can seem doable after a good laughter session.

Problem solving needs diverse perspectives and collaboration.

We somehow feel closer to a person after sharing a good laugh. The distances seem to dissolve, There is comfort, safety and intimacy

There’s also greater acceptance and lesser resistance. This improves collaboration and bonds the team well, which again helps with problem solving.

In fact, it maybe a good idea to practice humour as a conscious strategy. Try to schedule a time in your day where you bring in humour in your life. Watching a comedy, reading jokes or a fun filled session with friends and family. Or anything else that will bring in a good bout of laughter.

Finally, I will attempt to make you laugh with this leg pulling joke.” You are never really useless. You can always serve as a bad example.” Wish you lots of laughter. Have a good day.
