Are there people who have hurt you? How do you deal with them? Do you make sure you get even every time someone hurts you or do you also let go?

You have a fixed amount of energy – you can use that to pursue success, achievement and happiness. Every time you spend energy on a battle, there is less energy left to pursue your life priorities.

Picking a battle comes at a price. Very often, we jump into a battle without knowing its price. Ask yourself, what do I stand to lose if I pick up this battle, and what do I stand to gain? Then weigh them out.

There are battles which are about principles and must be fought whether you win or lose. But, there are  many more battles of the “what should we eat for dinner” type. As human beings we are guilty of picking far more battles than necessary, as well as the wrong kind of battles.

Think of the past or existing battles in your life. What did you lose and gain from fighting them? (Include intangibles like peace of mind, time, stress, joy also in your calculation)

Do you have the tolerance to let go of battles that needn’t be fought? And do you have the courage to pick up the battles that should be fought. If you can get this part of your life straightened out, half your problems will be solved.
